Day 288 - Random Actor Tuesday - Christelle Cornil

Day 288.

Today's Random Actor Tuesday is Christelle Cornil, who plays the Baker's Wife in Julie & Julia.


She, uh... doesn't really do much in the movie. What did you expect? She's the BAKER'S WIFE. Not the baker. The baker is the one the who does everything in this fucking bakery--you and I both know that. And I know what you're thinking and I'm gonna stop you right there. I'm not being sexist. If anyone is sexist, it is Nora Ephron for her failure to flesh out this "Baker's Wife" role at all.


She's in the movie for all of 3 seconds, so every choice she makes is essential to her character. I decided to track what she did throughout her scene.
First 1.5 seconds: She smiles like an iiiiiddiottttt.
Last 1.5 seconds: She rubs her hand on her husband's back, showing her support for THE MOTHERFUCKING BAKER.
Good one, Baker's Wife. I applaud your effort. Every man needs a strong woman at his side to pat his back as HE LITERALLY PUTS BREAD ON THE TABLE.


All women in this movie are useless. Except for Julia Child, of course. But she's not really a woman, is she? More of a demi-goddess.
