Day 261 - Julie & Julia on the Golden Gate Bridge

Day 261.

Last Wednesday, I took my daily dosage of Julie & Julia while driving across the Bay Bridge and well, it wasn't very exciting. Mostly because the awkward photos of my laptop being held up next to the car windows were just not very good. But now that I've finally taken the plunge and downloaded the movie onto my iPhone, I am beginning to see a whole lot of new ways that the Lawrence/Julie & Julia Project can become more portable and maybe a little more interesting.

For example, why stop at the Bay Bridge? This is fucking San Francisco after all. No one gives a shit about the Bay Bridge. It's all about that Golden Gate, mothafuckas.

Yup, that's right I spent the majority of my day just hanging out and watching Julie & Julia on the Golden Gate bridge. It was cold, it was foggy, it was just a little bit miserable--but not any more so than the previous 260 times I've watched this film...

Walking across the entire Golden Gate actually ate up a lot of time, but still not enough to finish that goddamned movie. Jesus, that thing is fucking long. Why?!?! You have no reason to be that long, Julie & Julia!!

I have never been closer to killing myself than I am in the photo above. Think about it. Here I am watching this 2-hour long terrible, terrible movie for the 261st consecutive time and I just happen to be on one of these most popular places to commit suicide. It took all I could muster to not jump.

But that wouldn't have been any fun for you guys. Can't be taking the easy way out. Not while I've come this far. I need to just suck it up and get ready to watch Julie & Julia again tomorrow...

On second thought, maybe I should've jumped.

  1. Hey Lawrence! I found this video of Mark Ruffalo being a super cool activist against the drilling of the tar sands and since he is certainly related to Julie & Julia and this is an extremely important current issue, you should post this sometime soon so all your followers can see. It's yet another reason why MR would have made this movie better and I'm sure your fans would agree that we need to stop using fossil fuels in order to save the planet. Spread the word and stop the pipeline!!! Thanks!

  2. Lawrence I don't think this can go on, you're enjoying life too much. This movie isn't supposed to offer you a nice walk in the nature, seeing some bridges, visiting concerts. This movie was supposed to be 123 minutes of Nora Ephron induced brain damage and ulcer causing Julie Powell hatred. Is this movie about enjoying life? NO! It's not, and especially you are aware of that the most. Is Julie Powell enjoying her life in the movie? No, she's not. She's a bitch. Bitches don't enjoy life. Is Julia Child enjoying her life in the movie? Uh, well, uhm, yeah... she kinda is. Actually she is enjoying it to the fullest. But let's forget about that, you're not like Julia Child, you're more Julie Powell. So stop enjoying your life, get yourself a nice hot bowl of misery and get back in front of the computer screen! Lately you're smiling on the pictures. Would someone who has to watch Julie and Julia every day smile? No! Lawrence you're cheating on us! How could you!? El gasp...

  4. Oh my god. You are my hero. I found you from Blogs of Note (congrats by the way) and I think I just found my concept for my next year (I'm in the midst of a year in photos). Probably not with Julie and Julia but another movie. This is a genius idea. You are also a brave brave man and I applaud you. Do you have any ideas of what you want to do after you complete this.

  5. Hmmm, I just don't get it. Why would anyone subject themselves to watching the movie every day for a year....perhaps you ate a bad pastry and are suffering from brain damage.....

  9. Contingent upon your money related circumstance, your FICO assessment and the sum you need to get, there are various credit alternatives accessible. Quite a long time ago, the vast majority went to their nearby bank or credit union, however nowadays different loaning foundations have made new open doors for vehicle advances that weren't beforehand accessible. auto title loans chicago
