Day 259 - Happy Birthday, Julia Child!

Day 259.

Today is Julia Child's birthday!!! Or it would be if she were still alive... But no, wait--just because she isn't around now doesn't mean we here at the Lawrence/Julie & Julia Project can't celebrate a little. After all, Julia Child lived a long and fruitful life and her legacy deserves to be remembered for at least today (if not every day, like me).

As a tribute to the awesome lady that is Julia Child, who would have been 99 years old today, I sought to recreate her brief birthday scene in Julie & Julia.


Special thanks to my brother and sister-in-law for assisting me with the scene reenactment and my friend Audrey for baking the scones that stood in for whatever the fuck that French pastry thing was.


Happy Birthday, Julia Child! You sure were one helluva lady.

  3. I was wondering if you were considering Julie's husband (I dont remember his name as he is not Mark Raffulo :-) advice about the aspecs/cow foot yuggh molds: that you can lie about watching it everyday? When you watch that part do you consider it.

    A while ago I watched Julie and Julia for maybe the second or third time, and I said to myself "Oh, I should read the book", which I did. Then I wanted to find out what happened Julie Powell because I had heard there was an affair and meat and all that, so I then read her follow-up. Then by some random googling a couple of days ago I found this blog which I have been working my way through until I got to this post and I nearly had heart failure because I saw that today is Julia Child's birthday and also:

    My birthday is August 15th!!!
