Day 254 - Julie & Julia on the Bay Bridge

Day 254.

Due to time constraints, I was forced to watch Julie & Julia in my brother's car today, while en route from San Francisco to Oakland. This marks my first viewing of J&J over a body of water, which--I know, I know--is a huge milestone for the Lawrence/Julie & Julia Project.

As we crossed the Bay Bridge, I couldn't help but think of how many others before me had watched this movie in their vehicles while crossing this very same bridge... Maybe like 73? Is that too high? Or maybe it's low... I'll be honest--I have no real grasp on how often people watch this movie (1 time? 2 times? 200 times? No times?) or under what circumstances most people watch this movie, if at all (On bridges? Off bridges? w/Todd Bridges?).

Do people still watch movies in cars? Did they ever? I feel like whenever I see one of those drop-down DVD player screens in mini-vans, the people inside are either watching The Lion King or The Wiggles Live in Concert, never Julie & Julia (this may have something to do with the fact that Julie & Julia is not a kid-friendly movie. Too many Meryl Streep/Stanley Tucci sex scenes).

These are the things that occupy my mind, as it slowly deteriorates into something that resembles Julie's raspberry Bavarian cream.

Oh also, before I forget. The only reason we were going to Oakland in the first place was to drop off our cousin visiting from China (there is literally no other reason to go to Oakland). She had never seen Julie & Julia before and probably does not plan on seeing it again anytime soon, if ever.

If it's not obvious in this photo, my cousin is fast asleep. Julie & Julia--the most powerful sedative known to man!

  3. I stumbled across your blog this morning and I have to admit my entire day has revolved around finding tidbits of time during which to read your blog. Fantastic, sir. I take my hat off to you.

And because I'm also a whore for wanting people to read about my stuff, check out my blog if you like. I recently moved a to a new country and am blogging about that.

  4. I'll be going to college in Oakland in less than a week :P No hard feelings, haha... Anyways, I shall also be crossing the Bay Bridge to get there (I'm visting my aunt in San Fran first) so I must find something to do to honor your Julie&Julia watching! I don't know if I'll actually watch the movie though... maybe if I can get it cheap on iTunes, but I doubt the probability of that... maybe I'll just eat really good food :D
