Day 235 - Julie & Julia Product Placement: Quizno's

Day 235.

I'll admit it--I'm a fan of Quizno's Subs. I respect that they were the first company to introduced toasted subs to the mainstream sandwich-eaters of the world. I loved that they were one of the only fast food franchises in Kohler, Wisconsin (Population: 2000). I look fondly upon my memories of early release days in elementary school, when all the local hooligans would make their way to the local Quizno's to celebrate classes getting out early. We'd fill up on hearty sammiches and spend our afternoons skipping rocks across Woodlake. These were the good times.

QUIZ-FUCKING-NO'S

Long story short, I do like Quizno's. But does that mean I'd want to see it every day for a year? I mean, Julie & Julia is basically an hourlong Quizno's commercial (not really at all, but my brain can no longer process "time"). And watching an hourlong Quizno's commercial every day is no fun at all.

Like, jeez Quizno's. Be more in my face, why doncha?

I prefer Quizno's to most other sub sandwich chains. Subway is complete shit. And I've found Jimmy John's to be quite overrated. Just doesn't live up to the hype. If I could have any sub sandwich from any place, I'd probably go with a Turkey Breast, only mayo at Cousin's Subs, but that's clearly a regional thing. So I guess Quizno's ain't all bad for now.

Who am I kidding? Fuck you, Quizno's. Why must you be so omnipresent in my sad, sad life?

Wait, what the hell? How the fuck did I end up here?
Clearly the work of SUBLIMINAL MESSAGING!!!
Oh well. Not much I can do about it. Julie & Julia's making my decisions for me now.
I'm not complaining.

PRIME RIB & PEPPERCORN IS MAH SHIT!!!

  3. Enjoy it while you can, as Quiznos may not be around that much longer. They've closed about 30% of their locations in the past four years, and issued a warning just the other day that they may not be able to service the debt from their leveraged buyout (five years ago). Too bad, since they're decent, all things considered, but you can get toasted subs pretty much anywhere these days given that the other places did away with the only real advantage Quiznos had by adding an appliance to their stores.
